Commonly used for various content concerning&nbsp;art, museums, and interior design and decor. May also be used as an icon for a picture, as before an upload, link, or credit.

Microsoft&rsquo;s design <a href="/microsoft/windows-11/framed-picture/">previously</a> showed <a href="/ninja-cat/">Ninja Cat</a>.&nbsp;An&nbsp;earlier Microsoft&nbsp;design&nbsp;<a href="/microsoft/windows-10/framed-picture/">featured</a>&nbsp;the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona_Lisa">Mona Lisa</a>, as did a previous&nbsp;<a href="/samsung/touchwiz-7.1/framed-picture/">Samsung</a>&nbsp;design. Apple and Huewai&#39;s designs notably only display half a face, likely to make the saluting hand more prominent when this emoji is viewed in smaller sizes.

Unicode 14.0 is the version of the Unicode Standard&nbsp;released on&nbsp;September 14, 2021.&nbsp;37 new emoji&nbsp;code points were added in this release,&nbsp;with all 112 new emojis (including sequences for skin tones)&nbsp;listed under <a href="/emoji-14.0/">Emoji 14.0</a>.

New emojis&nbsp;added in this release are update expected to come to major platforms in either late 2021 or early&nbsp;2022.

Twitter (renamed X in July 2023) supports all standard emojis, and these can be inserted via&nbsp;emoji keyboard or picker. Emojis can also&nbsp;be copied&nbsp;and pasted by choosing from the&nbsp;emojis on this page.

Twemoji&nbsp;was initially created in 2014 as an <a href="http://github.com/twitter/twemoji">open source emoji project</a>, created and owned by Twitter. However, following the privatization of Twitter in April 2022, the project appears to have been discontinued by X. The project has been continued as a <a href="https://github.com/jdecked/twemoji">standalone open source project</a> by former Twitter staff alongside members of the <a href="/discord">Discord</a> design team.

In February 2023 the Twemoji set ceased to be used by Twitter / X on mobile devices, replaced by the device&#39;s native emoji designs. After January 2024&nbsp; the dedicated&nbsp;<a href="https://twemoji.twitter.com/">Twemoji website</a> was also shut down (an archived version of the site from January 2024 <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240129051934/https://twemoji.twitter.com/">can be seen here</a>).

Emojis from Twemoji are found on&nbsp;the Twitter / X website (Twtter.com / X.com),&nbsp;TweetDeck,&nbsp;Twitter for Android,&nbsp;<a href="/discord/">Discord</a>, <a href="/roblox/">Roblox</a>, and other apps.&nbsp;The Twitter / X app for iOS has always used&nbsp;the native emojis provided by Apple.

Hashmojis&nbsp;(previously known as&nbsp;hashflags, and later&nbsp;Custom Twitter emojis)&nbsp;are enabled for some&nbsp;events or promotions. These display on Twitter / X for a limited time, after specific hashtags.

While most emojis can be used in Twitter&nbsp;names, any emoji that resembles the verified checkmark is not permitted. See the list of <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/why-you-cant-use-these-emojis-in-your-twitter-name/">emojis not permitted in Twitter / X names or bios</a>.

Since 2021&nbsp;glossy Twemoji Stickers began showing in <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/new-glossy-twemoji-designs-appear-in-fleets/">select locations across Twitter</a>, but as of early 2022 these glossy designs have yet to be used within the Twemoji emoji set. As of October 2022, these glossy sticker designs have been available for use within the Twitter mobile image editor and are featured within the platform&#39;s Twitter Status feature.

🐦 Twitter / X Emoji List — Emojis for Twitter and TweetDeck

Rolled out on 2023-07-23, this minor update to the Twemoji emoji set revised the designs of the <a href="https://emojipedia.org/face-with-medical-mask">😷 Face with Medical Mask</a>, <a href="https://emojipedia.org/pleading-face">🥺 Pleading Face</a>, and <a href="https://emojipedia.org/face-holding-back-tears">🥹 Face Holding Back Tears</a> emojis.

These three emoji designs had previously been updated within the Twitter web application&#39;s emoji picker tool, but not within tweets themselves prior to this update.

Twemoji 15.0.1

Rolling out globally from 2023-06-13, Twemoji 15.0 introduced support for September 2022&#39;s Emoji 15.0 recommendation to Twitter&#39;s classic block color emoji set.

Prior to their official rollout, these new emoji designs were initially visible within the Twitter web app&#39;s emoji picker tool.
