Not to be confused with 😒 Unamused Face, which has similar eyes but a pouting mouth. This emoji has a cat variant, 😼 Cat Face With Wry Smile.

On Snapchat, this emoji next to a contact denotes that this person snaps you frequently but you do not often snap them in return.

Smirking Face was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
