Two hands performing a handshake gesture, indicating a cordial greeting between friends or associates.

As of late 2021's Emoji 14.0 recommendations, this emoji design has multiple skin tone modifier options. Certain platforms did, however, support a small number of single skin tone options for the handshake emoji prior to 2021 (e.g. both Google and Samsung in 2017). View all handshake emojis.

Handshake was approved as part of Unicode 9.0 in 2016 and added to Emoji 3.0 in 2016.

🚩 Mixed skin tone support for this emoji was approved in September 2021 and will come to most platforms throughout 2022.
