Beginning its rollout for select Samsung devices from October 2022, Samsung's One UI 5.0 provided support for both 2021's Emoji 14.0 and 2022's Emoji 15.0 recommendations.

Prior to the release of One UI 5.0, many Samsung users may have seen support for Emoji 14.0 emojis provided via Google's emoji design set. This was due to Google's expansion of Android AppCompat in 2021.

A select number of users also reported seeing Emoji 14.0 designs in Samsung's emoji font when updating to One UI 4.1.1 in September 2022.

Über Samsung Emojis

Samsung devices use their own emoji designs which are different to those used on other Android devices. These glossy emojis appear on devices such as the Samsung Galaxy and Galaxy Note series and are updated as part of the Samsung One UI interface layer (previously Samsung Experience, before that Samsung TouchWiz) which runs on top of Android.

Note that Samsung users may see select emojis display as their Google set design. This is due to Android AppCompat, which will display a Google emoji design within an app or web platform when a Samsung device has not yet been updated to support that particular emoji.

Note: WhatsApp, Twitter, and Facebook have their own emoji designs which are used instead of Google or Samsung emojis in their respective apps on Android devices.
