Emoji Meaning

A yellow face with open eyes, raised eyebrows, and an open mouth, as if gasping in shock or surprise. Often depicted showing its upper teeth. May convey a wide range of emotions, including awe, amazement, admiration, disbelief, excitement, or concern.

Similar to 😯 Hushed Face, which features smaller eyes and mouth. Several earlier designs, including Apple’s, displayed X-shaped eyes, making the emoji resemble 😵 Dizzy Face. Google’s design previously depicted a wobbly expression, as if inebriated.

Astonished Face was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
